RDS (Room Data Sheets) are used to capture the details and requirements for each space in a project. They are usually created by the client during the briefing (also known as architectural programming in the US) phase of the design process but they can also be revised during the design process to reflect evolving requirements, or to provide an improved and more precise overview for those who are responsible for delivering the project.
The Room Data Sheets SmartTool allows you to create room (or space), data sheets using the Revit project. It’s a fast and accurate tool that can be used to create sheet, elevation and schedule views. The tool is able to create 3D, plans, elevations and schedule views for spaces or rooms, all of which are parametrically named and numbered on new sheets.
By default, the tool will use the Room Numbering template and Sheet Format created by the Revit project however, a different sheet name and style can be picked from the Tool Options tab. You can also click ‘Load Config’ …’ on the toolbar to load previously saved configurations which will replace the current settings. This will reduce the amount of manual re-work needed for each room or space size and type.
In the ‘Naming: tab, users can choose whether to include the selected space or room’s name in the sheet’s ‘Sheet Name’ text box which is located on the left of the screen. View Name: is the text that appears in the title bar of every view, and the ‘View Increment’ option specifies the number increments between each view once it is placed on the sheet. The ‘Spacing’ option allows you to control the spacing between each view. The ‘Exclude Titles from Estimating View Sizes for Sheets’ choice will ensure that titles are not included in the calculation of the number of views on sheets.
