Overall, a region’s independence referendum turnout has little to do with the region’s unemployment rate. The turnout sample was mostly in the 80-90 percent range. And the unemployment rate is distributed over all the intervals given. Most cities have a turnout of between one and two million people. Glasgow had the lowest turnout in the independence referendum, with around 4 million people voting. glasgow also has a high unemployment rate of 4%. The highest turnout in the independence referendum was in East Dunbartonshire(95%), where around 2m people voted and where unemployment is low, at around 1.5%. The highest unemployment rate was in ayrshire, at almost 5%, but turnout was not low, at 84%. The area with the lowest unemployment rate (not clear from the picture) had a similar turnout as ayrshire.
